SAU’s First UNCF Fidelity Scholars

The Fidelity Scholars Program combines a generous annual needs-based scholarship with robust wrap-around services that support students’ persistence to degree or certificate attainment. The program is working to identify and support approximately 2,500 talented students from Fidelity’s geographical priority areas in the US. The student can receive up to $55,000 in four years.

Why did you choose SAU? I chose SAU because it opened my eyes to film. I enjoy the campus and family-like environment. It is also not far from home.

Why did you choose your major? I love watching movies and the film process to create it from sound to picture.

What does it mean for you to be a Fidelity scholar? It feels great to know that United Negro College Fund, better known as UNCF, is helping me financially pay to attend the illustrious institution of Saint Augustine’s University to complete my Bachelor’s in Film. This scholarship will allow me and my family not to worry about debt or the cost of attending the university.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am looking forward to having a successful freshmen year while exploring and driving more into my film and academic studies.

What does it mean for you to “Create What’s Next” at SAU? It inspires me to challenge more of my family members and people who like me to attend college.

Hobbies & Interests: I enjoy reading drama and mystery novels. I like hanging out with friends and going to the movies. I also enjoy being a social media content creator.

Why did you choose SAU? For the history of Saint Agnes Hospital. The history inspires me to do what I love.

Why did you choose your major? I chose my major. I have had a creative mind since I was young. I used to create stories and can now display them on the big screen.

What does it mean for you to be a Fidelity Scholar? I can get through school without worrying about financial struggles, making my family proud, and reaching my career goals.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I look forward to having a good GPA, maintaining all my scholarship requirements, and having an excellent first-year experience.

What does it mean for you to “Create What’s Next” at SAU? I want to be what I can be, to be the best version of myself, and believe in myself without self-doubt.
